Type of Therapy
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy for adults, children and babies
About Me & How I Work
As a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist and an Alexander Technique Teacher, my approach to optimising health and well-being is to address the underlying causes of acute and chronic conditions which might be causing pain, tension and stress. Through these approaches, I am able to work with the whole person and their emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health which are all interconnected. Both approaches are client-led, involving gentle contact with the hands, leaving the client with a profound sense of well-being. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and The Alexander Technique are continually being supported by the latest medical science.
I have been working in the field of health for over 30 years. First in the NHS in mental health and paediatrics, then as an Alexander Technique Teacher and more recently as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist. I have worked with people of all ages and conditions, and have benefitted from working in hospitals, the community, secondary schools, drama and music schools. As a mother of three children, understanding the challenges of family life also informs my work. I have lived and worked in the Middle East and Africa, which has exposed me to the nuances of different religions and cultures, and has greatly enriched my work.
People come to see me for many reasons. It may be they are seeking help with physical problems such as headaches, migraines, neck, back, and shoulder pain. Others are looking for ways to alleviate stress, anxiety, or low mood. Many people see me to enable them to reconnect to a sense of health and well being.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a gentle, non-invasive way to work with the body, using a light touch.
During a session, a therapist will use the sensitivity of their hands to “listen” to the client’s system, identifying patterns of tension or constraint. Most of us have nervous systems which, due to the pressures of modern life, are constantly in a defensive “flight, fight, or freeze” mode which interferes with our innate ability to rest, rejuvenate, and relate socially to others.
BCST gives each and everyone of us the time and space to quieten our systems, so that we may focus and address the issues that need our attention. Through deep and careful listening, a therapist can respond and be led by the client’s own system, rather than imposing their own pre-conditioned methodology.
BCST is widely practiced throughout the world. It is as equally suitable for newborn babies as it is to the elderly, and can be used throughout pregnancy. BCST is designed to support the body’s innate ability to balance, restore and heal itself. Its holistic approach means that it can help with the extensive range of conditions and challenges that we may be faced with throughout life.
An adult treatment will usually last 50 minutes. The initial appointment will include a written case history, where we talk about why you have come and your past medical history. Usually you will lie on your back, fully clothed on the treatment couch. The treatment will generally begin with making light contact at your head, feet or base of the spine. You may find that sometimes the focus of the treatment may be on areas other than where you are experiencing your symptoms. As the session progresses you will often experience an increased sense of relaxation and calm.

The Alexander Technique
The Alexander Technique is a practical and powerful means of overcoming the tyranny of neuromuscular habit, which may have led to pain, tension, stress and impaired health. Lessons in the technique will restore your natural balance and coordination. It will help you recognise and change those habits related to posture, movement and tension. It will enable you to develop mindful awareness of the way you sit, stand, and move, and give you a greater ease in everything you do. It is suitable for all ages.
